Diana “Dede” Decker, a self-taught textile artist who is a part of our Fresh Eye Arts program, will debut her first solo exhibition at Fresh Eye Gallery on August 20.
The latch hook exhibition showcases Decker’s unique contribution to the textile arts. Her joyful work features a motif of kittens, puppies, cats, dogs, and other natural elements like flowers and trees, represented in large and small scale wall hangings. Her pieces radiate with bright colors that create vibrant negative spaces outlining the form of each animal and flower. Click here to view more of Decker’s work.
Recently, Decker’s work has been on view locally at the Textile Center, MN State Fair Fine Arts Show, SOO Visual Arts Center, ArtReach St. Croix, and nationally at Art Explorers (Fort Bragg, CA), Circle Contemporary (Chicago, IL), and MAKE Studio (Baltimore, MD). She also joined artists Soon-Wai Wong and Yousha Tighe in showing work at the Creativity Explored X Open Invitation Art Fair in San Francisco this spring.
We hope you’ll join us for an opening reception on Thursday, August 20, from 6-8pm at Fresh Eye Gallery! Decker has been a part of Fresh Eye Arts since its inception, and we couldn’t be happier to see her work celebrated alongside our fifth anniversary this year.
