FIBERS OF MY BEING @ Fresh Eye Gallery

  • Fresh Eye Gallery 4238 Nicollet Ave S Minneapolis, MN 55409 United States (map)

Artist and tastemaker Chloe Russell-Chang has curated an exciting new exhibition of fiber work reflecting on mental health, belonging, and well-being.

This exhibition highlights the many ways fiber artworks can positively benefit mental health. Textiles are dually a community-strengthening resource and a deeply private process, depending on the context in which they are created.

The process of repetitive hand movement can help calm an overstimulated mind. “Slow crafts” which allow mind to flow freely while your hands are busy, without the aid of a screen device, are precious skills.

When you give or receive a handmade gift, you are also giving or receiving an item which was made manifest over countless hours of “I was thinking of you”. Gifting or displaying a handmade object embodies our communal urge to celebrate, to mourn, to protest. It signifies importance, paid for with our time. The work on display in this exhibition encapsulates these values, contextualized by each artist’s unique perspective.

Exhibiting Artists:
